Our Programs

Dream Bag Program

Our Dream Bag Program is a program that is two-sided. We distribute Dream Bags containing items that would be useful for someone who does not have much. They include toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, band-aids, blankets, socks, underclothing, and other items. These bags are distributed to local people who are experiencing homelessness and people being released from incarceration.

Another aspect of this program is our street outreach. During our street outreach, we visit areas that are highly concentrated with people experiencing homelessness and provide them with food, water, clothing, and other necessities.

This program serves as a source to allow us to get to know our potential participants better by having conversations with them so we can understand what is most important to them, and therefore, building our larger Dream.

Dreaming of a Place to Call Home Program

Our Dreaming of a Place to Call Home Program follows the Housing First model and assists participants with a permanent place to call home.

Our plan is to purchase one or two homes in Hillsborough County during 2023. Depending on the number of bedrooms, each house will provide homes to between four and eight participants. Many organizations focus their efforts on providing transitional or temporary homes; they do not provide them any type of support or life skills while they are in the homes. Through our research, we have found that providing people with temporary housing isn’t working because once they have utilized the maximum housing allowed, they are returned to the same condition as they were before entering the housing.

Unbroken Dreams believes the solution is much deeper than a house and wants to teach the skills and provide the guidance that they need to empower them to self-sufficiency.

Education and Training Dream Program

Our Education and Training Dream Program allows our participants to choose between attending college or learning a valuable trade, such as plumbing, electrical, welding, or landscaping. If the participant is a good candidate and chooses to attend school, we will do our best to have them attend tuition free. This is done by utilizing all the possible grants. If funding allows, Unbroken Dreams will pay the remaining portion of the tuition. Both options are intended to lead to full-time jobs.

Life Skills Dream Program

Our Life Skills Dream Program is a twelve-step program that teaches participants the skills necessary to become self-sufficient individuals in our society. This collaborative approach to empowerment is the keystone to developing self-sufficiency. The steps include interpersonal skills building, community involvement, conflict resolution, effective communication, anger skills, life skills, personal development, addiction counseling, human rights, financial literacy, environmental responsibility (recycling), and independent living skills.
