Our Board of Trustees (the “Board”) is a governing board comprised of at least three members but no more five members who are responsible for ensuring Unbroken Dreams pursues its mission, stays financially sound, and meets its legal obligations. The Board manages staff volunteers that handle day-to-day operations.

The Chairman of the Board calls and runs Board meetings and makes appointments based on the organization’s bylaws. The Treasurer oversees the financial responsibilities of the organization, and the Secretary keeps the organization’s historical records and takes minutes of its official meetings. Other board members participate in board meetings, vote on official matters, and serve on committees.

Daphne Thomas

Chairman

     Daphne serves as both the Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Unbroken Dreams. She holds a B.A. in psychology from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. from California State University. Her career has been deeply rooted in service to vulnerable populations, including years spent in call center roles assisting the homeless and those in crisis. Additionally, she gained valuable experience as a medical assistant in a psychiatric hospital, specializing in care for children and adolescents. Daphne’s commitment to her community also includes her role as the County Coordinator for Hillsborough County with the Florida Action Committee.
     Daphne has also served her community as a police officer and earned her license as a Certified Public Accountant, working in financial reporting and tax areas. As a real estate agent, Daphne has built a vast network of personal and professional connections with community leaders throughout Hillsborough County. This network is instrumental in raising awareness for Unbroken Dreams and its mission within the community.
     Daphne’s passion for addressing discrimination and her natural ability to inspire effective communication, teamwork, and community pride make her an exceptional leader. She is a dedicated problem solver who values inclusivity, ensuring that all team members collaborate toward shared goals. Regardless of the challenges faced by those Unbroken Dreams serves, Daphne approaches each individual with respect, empathy, and care. She has cultivated an environment within Unbroken Dreams that promotes security, trust, support, encouragement, connection, and a shared vision for a brighter future.

Branden Andrade

Vice President

     Branden’s compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to helping others have made him an invaluable member of Unbroken Dreams. With several years of selfless volunteer work at the YMCA, Branden has demonstrated a deep commitment to community service. Through his involvement in the YMCA’s Teen Leaders Program, he gained invaluable opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, and social development. Whether participating in service-learning projects, volunteer and fundraising events, academic support initiatives, or regional rallies, Branden consistently showcased his enthusiasm for making a positive impact in the lives of others.
     In addition to his volunteer work, Branden has taught a class on substance abuse at a local jail, further exemplifying his dedication to helping those in challenging circumstances. His professional experience includes working for Dan The Man’s Landscaping, where he was promoted to manager within a year, a testament to his leadership skills and work ethic. Branden also played a crucial role in supporting another business by performing all back-office duties, such as setting up the business with the state, obtaining an EIN, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local ordinances, and managing the monthly accounting and tax filings.
     At Unbroken Dreams, Branden brings the same level of commitment and passion. His experience in leadership and service aligns with the organization’s mission to uplift those facing significant life challenges, such as homelessness and post-incarceration struggles. Branden’s hands-on approach and genuine care for people resonate with the core values of Unbroken Dreams, as he actively contributes to creating an environment of support and empowerment for those in need.
     Looking ahead, Branden is pursuing his education as an electrician. His goal is to combine his passion for hard work with his caring spirit, continuing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. At Unbroken Dreams, Branden is not only a volunteer but also an example of how dedication and compassion can drive positive change in the community.

Elizabeth “Liz” Miniter

Secretary & Treasurer

     Elizabeth “Liz” Miniter serves as the Secretary and Treasurer of Unbroken Dreams, bringing her extensive expertise in administration, accounting, and bookkeeping to the organization. As the owner and manager of Change Starts Here, LLC, an exterior cleaning services company she runs with her husband Brendan, Liz understands the intricacies of managing a family-owned business and the importance of financial stewardship. Her professional background includes key roles at AMPLIFY Clearwater, SitusAMC, InnerWorkings (now HH Global), and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., where she honed her skills in administration and financial management.
     Within the past year, Liz has distinguished herself as a networking powerhouse, earning recognition as the Tampa Regional Summer Games winner in BNI. She also serves as an ambassador for the Upper Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce, underscoring her dedication to fostering strong connections within the local business community.
     At Unbroken Dreams, Liz’s commitment to excellence and her passion for community service are invaluable. She plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization’s financial health, enabling Unbroken Dreams to continue its mission of supporting those facing homelessness and the challenges of reentering society after incarceration.
     Outside of her professional responsibilities, Liz enjoys traveling and pursuing continuous education, always eager to expand her knowledge and stay at the forefront of her field. Her caring and philanthropic spirit shines through in her dedication to giving back to the local community, making her a vital asset to Unbroken Dreams and the broader Tampa area.
