Food for Life Pantry

To participate in the Food Pantry, you must register annually. If this is your first time receiving food through Abe Brown Ministries, you must register at 2918 N. 29th Street, Tampa, Florida, 33605 between 8:30 AM and 10 AM on Food Pantry Day. Food is distributed the last two Fridays of each month with special distributions for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

USDA Food Pantry

Wednesday & Thursday – Food box distribution starts following the afternoon meal around 3:30 PM and ends at 6 PM. Individuals and families that qualify are eligible to receive a box of food every two weeks. These boxes contain shelf-stable products like rice, beans, or pasta to help create hearty meals. They may also include protein sources like frozen or canned meats, dairy products like milk and cheese. These items are subject to availability.

The ECHO Food Pantry along with the ECHO Clothing closet was created to assist our neighbors who have suffered a recent emergency and need help with food and clothing.  Neighbors who have undergone a recent loss of a job or reduced income due to health issues, house fire, require help for emergency foster children, or other hardships are encouraged to visit us. Our neighbors in need receive 20 lbs of food and are equipped with seven outfits and three pairs of shoes. Children receive two new pairs of socks and underwear or diapers.  Must provide valid photo ID, additional proof of address (bill), and social security cards.  May visit one time every four months.

Monday through Sunday, we offer guests a comfortable, safe environment to come and enjoy a meal. Our volunteers are trained to give our guests the respect and love they deserve. In the spirit of service, we serve our guests plates of food and a drink of their choice, as if they are in a restaurant. We open our doors for our guests at 11:30 am. Guests are asked to line up no earlier than 11:00 am. Lunch is served until 12:30 pm, and all guests are requested to leave the property by 1:00. We also offer a Sunday dinner beginning at 5:00 pm and ending at 6:00 pm.

Freshly prepared, hot meals are delivered between 10:00AM-2:00PM, Monday through Friday, by volunteers. In addition to the hot meal, water and a side will be delivered daily.  On Friday’s, we include a specialty salad and on the 3rd Saturday of most months we will deliver a fresh bag of produce.

Frozen weekend meals are available and are delivered on Fridays.

To be eligible for our services, you must:

Trinity Café is a free restaurant that offers meals to homeless, hungry, and working poor guests. No mandatory religious services of counseling or proof of need. Only a meal ticket is required each day that food is received.

Food Distribution – The Mission of the United Food Bank and Services of Plant City is to provide assistance for the needy in moving them from a “state of hunger” and “impoverishment” to self-sufficiency, empowerment and self-reliance.  Our Vision is to stamp-out hunger in East Hillsborough County and raise the standard of living for the truly needy. Offering opportunities for self improvement, education, job skills, and enhancing life for individuals and families; thus affecting change for the community.  They provide a box of food to our clients once every thirty days.  A typical box, which varies daily based on donations and availability, includes items such as cereal, soup, juice, meat, eggs, bread, peanut butter, jelly, and milk.

We distribute food Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 12:00-3:30 pm, with late hours on Tuesday 12:00-5:00pm.  All new clients must arrive 30 minutes prior to close to be able to sign up.  Documents required to receive assistance are:  1) Current Photo Id (Driver’s license or state ID) and 2) Current proof of address in the main account holder’s name.  Per Mary Heysek, they are allowed twice per month.

  • ● Mobile Pantry Distribution – Our Mobile Pantry Distribution starts at 8 am and takes place behind our building at 702 E. Alsobrook Street, Plant City, FL 33563.  Event is first come, first serve so make sure you are there early!  Check the website for dates.  
  • ● Holiday Meal Baskets – We provide special Holiday Meal Bags for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.

The Community Food Pantry (CFP) strives to end the physical and emotional hunger of families in a dignified manner. The CFP takes a comprehensive approach to serving our clients that not only alleviates hunger but also provides support services such as health screenings, veterans’ assistance, and nutritional education for the whole person. We are currently serving anyone in need of food regardless of geographical area.  Clients will be given appointment cards for future visits after their first time at the Community Food Pantry.  Clients can visit the Community Food Pantry once every 4 weeks.  It’s a drive through food pantry.  Clients will not exit their vehicles and will have groceries brought to their car.  Please be prepared to have food placed in your trunk.
